Volunteers collect 91 bags of litter in Deeside cleanup

News and Info from Deeside, Flintshire, North Wales

Groups of volunteers helped collect 91 bags of litter in one day during a Deeside cleanup.

Litter Picking for Deeside, Flint Litter Pickers, and local residents tackled the area between Queensferry and Pentre, gathering 61 bags in the morning.

Later in the day, Morrison Energy Services joined the effort, collecting an additional 30 bags.

The cleanup highlights the ongoing challenge of littering in Flintshire.

A year ago, volunteers cleared the same area, removing 65 bags of waste. This shows the issue remains persistent.

Despite this, the groups are determined to continue tackling the problem and keeping local spaces clean and welcoming.

A spokesperson for the volunteers urged people to take responsibility for their waste: “Littering not only damages the environment but also costs money to clean up—money that could be spent elsewhere in the community. If everyone disposed of their rubbish properly, we wouldn’t need to keep repeating these efforts.”

The groups encourage more people to get involved, emphasising that even small contributions can make a big difference.

Volunteers of all ages are welcome, and updates on upcoming events can be found on their social media pages:

Looking ahead, the community is preparing for Spring Clean Cymru, running from 21 March to 6 April 2025.

Organisers are calling on individuals, businesses, schools, and groups to take part in local litter-picking activities.

“Together, we can outnumber those who litter and make a lasting, positive change for our environment,” said one volunteer.

Join the effort to keep Flintshire tidy!
