Sky to increase prices for broadband, phone and TV from April

Sky has confirmed that it will increase prices across its broadband, phone, and pay TV packages from 1 April 2025, with the average rise set at 6.2%.
Millions of customers will be affected by the hike, although those on Sky’s Broadband Basics social tariff will see their prices frozen.
The company will contact impacted customers over the coming weeks to confirm individual changes to their bills.
Why are prices going up?
Devesh Raj, Sky’s Chief Operating Officer, said the increase was necessary due to rising supplier costs and Sky’s ongoing investment in its products and services.
“These price adjustments reflect the investments we’ve made to improve our products and services and the heightened pressures businesses across our industry continue to face,” he said.
“For example, the amount we pay wholesalers for our broadband infrastructure or the investments we need to make in technology to deliver product reliability and improvements for our customers.”
Sky said its entertainment offering has expanded, with thousands of hours of new content, including original productions like The Tattooist of Auschwitz and The Day of the Jackal, as well as upcoming seasons of The Last of Us, Gangs of London and The White Lotus.
The company has also secured exclusive broadcasting rights for major sporting events, including the Premier League, EFL, F1, and England cricket, with Sky Sports+ adding more live coverage at no extra cost.
On broadband, Sky has expanded network capacity by 27% since 2021 and reduced broadband faults by 26%.
Eligible Sky VIP customers are also being offered a free upgrade to Full Fibre broadband with no activation fee or change to their contract.
Can I leave my Sky contract if prices rise?
Unlike some providers, Sky does not write automatic annual price increases into its contracts.
Instead, it announces price rises each year, allowing many broadband and phone customers the right to leave penalty-free if they wish.
Customers will be notified if they have 30 days to exit their contract without an early termination fee. However, those with a pay TV-only contract do not have the same right to cancel without penalty.
How to negotiate with Sky
Contacting Sky to discuss available offers could lead to a better deal, especially for those out of contract or signed up to multiple Sky services.
Sky has reassured customers that it remains committed to fair pricing and will continue to invest in providing the best content, sports, and broadband services.
