Shotton: Jack Sargeant visits Dee Park Community Woodland

Local MS Jack Sargeant visited Dee Park Community Woodland, one of Wales’ newest open green spaces. Dee Park welcomes walkers, joggers, cyclists and dogs, making it a fantastic, free, and local day out for families to enjoy.
Thanks to generous funding from the Woodland Investment Grant, supported by the Welsh Government, Dee Park has been able to host several events since the opening of the nature park. These include craft workshops, tree planting, nature walks, and more.
During the Christmas period, Dee Park held a successful festive event, supported by Deeside Round Table, Deeside Silver Band, and the local community, who came together to make it possible.
The park has an exciting programme of upcoming events, which can be found at https://bookwhen.com/deeparkrangers.
Investing in nature isn’t just good on a personal level. It creates green jobs, connects our communities, and helps us to tackle the climate emergency. Together we are creating a stronger, greener Wales for future generations of Alyn & Deeside to enjoy.
Speaking afterwards, Jack Sargeant said: “We enjoyed our morning at Dee Park Community Woodland. It was great to meet with the Rangers and to hear some of the examples of our community coming together, not only to take part in the events but also volunteering to help towards the upkeep and the growth of the woodland. I would encourage anybody who can spare any free time to participate in all of the fantastic events that Dee Park has to offer.”
