Coleg Cambria has been working in partnership with RGC and WRU in developing Rugby across all Cambria sites.

There has been great interest in the rugby since September and the team which includes students from various Coleg Cambria sites have been playing really well, finishing top of the AoC North West Men’s B League.

Learners from Yale, Llysfasi and Deeside come together on a Wednesday to play fixtures and train. The team recently played In the North West play offs against Runshaw College, who play in the league above. This was a close and exciting match, which finished 12-10 to Runshaw.

Donna Welsh Active Cambria Co coordinator said:

“Coleg Cambria supports students in their sporting pathway and quest for regional, national and international success, alongside their education. Linking with RGC and WRU has created collaborative thinking in developing a Rugby framework for Coleg Cambria.”

Rugby Coaches and sport lecturers, Aled Ellis and Dan Hough added:

“We can’t believe how much Rugby has taken off at the college.  We are very proud of the players and their contribution to the team. We are looking forward to working with RGC and WRU in the development of Rugby over the coming years”.

Coleg Cambria are now looking at forming a female rugby team. They hope to play some friendlies fixtures in the next couple of months.
