RSPCA Cymru appeal after cat with shoelace tied around neck found dead in Deeside

RSPCA Cymru has launched an urgent appeal for information following the discovery of a deceased cat with a shoelace tied around its neck in Deeside.
The young ginger cat was found near Sandy Lane on the morning of Tuesday, 8th October, by a member of the public, who quickly alerted authorities.
The cat was taken to a local vet, where the RSPCA was called to investigate. Animal Rescue Officer Mel Froude expressed concern over the shocking circumstances.
“This is a very upsetting incident, and we’d like to thank those who took the cat to the vets and have already spoken to us,” said Mel.
“The vet’s examination suggests that the death was non-accidental, with scuff marks and blood found on the cat’s back paws and toes, indicating it may have been dragged.”
Appeal for Witnesses
The cat was unneutered and not microchipped, making it difficult to identify an owner.
RSPCA Cymru is now appealing to anyone who may have seen the cat or has information about the incident.
“He was found near Sandy Lane, but it’s possible the incident happened elsewhere, and the cat made his way to that location,” Mel explained.
Anyone with information is urged to contact the RSPCA on 0300 123 8018, quoting reference 1367616.
The charity is keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed anything unusual in the area or knows who the cat might belong to.
As investigations continue, the RSPCA remains deeply concerned about the suspicious nature of the cat’s death and is asking for the public’s help in finding out more about what happened.
