Queensferry Charlies helps raise £174,000 for air ambulance

News and Info from Deeside, Flintshire, North Wales

Charlies Stores, which has a branch in Queensferry, has raised an impressive £174,016 for the Wales Air Ambulance through staff and customer donations, with £22,934.89 raised in 2024 alone.

As part of its annual festive celebrations, Charlies Stores organised a range of seasonal experiences to engage customers and support good causes.

In Queensferry, visitors were treated to a surprise visit from some yetis, adding to the festive cheer. Other stores welcomed attractions such as singing farm animals, reindeer, and penguin performers.

The company also pledged £2 from every real Christmas tree sold, further boosting donations.

Rebecca Lloyd, Managing Director of Charlies Stores, praised the community’s generosity, saying: “We are continually amazed by the generosity of our customers and staff. Raising a significant amount for such valuable charities makes all the efforts even more fulfilling.”

Phae Jones, Director of Income Generation for the Wales Air Ambulance, also expressed gratitude for the continued support, saying: “We would like to thank Charlies Stores, their staff and customers for their continuous support and generosity… Thank you for making a difference and being an essential part of our mission.”

In addition to fundraising for the Wales Air Ambulance, Charlies Stores’ Coed-y-Dinas location supported the Lingen Davies Cancer Fund, raising £6,457 through special Christmas events, including donkey rides and wreath-making workshops.

Further charitable efforts saw £1,602 raised for the DPJ Foundation and staff wearing pink for Breast Cancer Awareness and festive jumpers for Save the Children.
