Police stop motorist clocked at 102mph on A55 in Broughton

News and Info from Deeside, Flintshire, North Wales

A driver was stopped for speeding at 102mph on the A55 near Broughton on Sunday, as North Wales Police continued to crack down on excessive speeds on the region’s roads.

The motorist was issued with a Traffic Offence Report (TOR) and now faces possible court proceedings.

The incident was one of three high-speed offences recorded on the A55 over the weekend, with two other drivers clocked at over 100mph near Bangor.

A separate car driver was caught travelling at 107mph on the A55 near Bangor on the same day.

According to police, the individual had only recently regained their licence after a previous disqualification.

Around 15 minutes later, a motorcyclist was recorded at 100mph in the same area. Both were also issued with TORs and are expected to appear in court.

In a statement on social media, North Wales Police’s Roads Policing Unit said: “Speeding is an issue that concerns many, and one that we take extremely seriously. Those who choose to ignore the speed limits can expect to be prosecuted for their actions.”

Police also emphasised that dangerous driving puts all road users at risk, stating: “We are committed to making the roads a safer place for all who use them and we’ll continue to crack down on motorists who choose to ignore speed limits and drive/ride irresponsibly—not only risking their own lives but the lives of others.”
