North Wales Police are appealing for witnesses and information following an incident whereby a woman and her children were verbally abused whilst travelling along the A548 in Denbighshire.

At approx. 2pm on Tuesday 27th October a woman was driving along the Coast Road from Prestatyn to Rhyl with her two children – aged 10 and 2-years-old.

A man, driving a blue-coloured Land Rover Discovery, overtook them and became aggressive in his manner of driving by braking suddenly and was swerving in the road.

The man stopped his vehicle which caused the woman to also stop. He got out of his vehicle and approached the passenger side of the car where the 10-year-old was sitting. The man then punched the car window and attempted to open the car door. He then walked over to the driver’s side and was shouting.

He man then got back into his vehicle and drove off towards the general direction of Prestatyn.

Although the car window did not smash, the 34-year-old woman and her children were unhurt but shocked by the incident.

PC 3131 Elin Lloyd Jones said:

“We are treating the incident as a hate-related crime and we are appealing for any witnesses, or anybody who may have information that could assist the investigation to come forward.

“We know that there were other vehicles and people in the vicinity so I am appealing for those drivers and passengers to come forward.”

Anybody with information is asked to contact North Wales Police on 101, quoting reference number S164804.
