IT’S not just the staff and students who love Coleg Cambria.

A survey of parents and carers found more than 90% of them were satisfied with every aspect of their child’s learning.

At the award-winning college’s annual meeting, CEO David Jones revealed a staggering 99% of those surveyed felt the Wrexham and Deeside-based institution had high expectations about working hard and doing your best.

Other highlights were; 97% would recommend the college to a friend; 94% believe Cambria is a safe and welcoming environment with approachable staff; good teaching achieved a mark of 94% and access to higher quality learning opportunities (96%) was given a positive response.

Reflecting on the results, Mr Jones – current Times Education Supplement (TES) FE Leader of the Year – said that as a parent himself it’s important to recognise the feedback of carers and family members, not just the student.

“The experience of everyone at Coleg Cambria is of huge importance, but it’s also vital we listen to feedback from the mums, dads and carers who entrust us with the academic, social and cultural journey of their children,” he said.

“For the vast majority of them to be happy with the opportunities they are given, the support and care they receive and the quality of teaching is heartening.

“We will of course continue to strive for improvement in all areas, but these results are welcomed and reinforce the hard work of our staff across north east Wales.”

The college group is celebrating a remarkable 12 months which included its best ever A Level results, a 90% staff satisfaction rate and the rollout of higher education and apprenticeship programmes.

Coleg Cambria also saw its workforce grow to more than 1,300 employees and contributed to the economy with an annual turnover of £60million.
