Nomads officials are in Geneva this morning ahead of the Europa League draw

Officials from Connah’s Quay Nomads are in Switzerland this morning ahead of the Europa League First Qualifying Round later today.

Club Officials including Assistant Manager and Director of Football Jay Catton will be at UEFA HQ in Geneva where Nomads will be in the draw for the second season running.

Luckily the Nomads appear to have ‘swerved’ a daunting 12-hour flight to FC Ordabasy which is around 400 miles from the border with China in Kazakhstan.

The Welsh Premier League outfit are drawn in group 9 with a possible trip to IFK Norrköping Sweden, Odd from Norway, Finland’s HJK Helsinki, Ferencváros Hungary and Nõmme Kalju Estonia.

The Europa League draws comes just days after first team boss Andy Morrison, has extended his contract with the Club until June 2020.

The Club are looking to build on last season’s highest ever, 2nd place finish in the Welsh Premier League, alongside two semi-final appearances in the Welsh FA and League Cups alongside reaching the UEFA Europa League Second Qualifying Round after knocking out full-time Norwegian outfit Stabæk last summer.

Nomads also confirmed plans to transition to full-time status will begin next month, extensive trials and scouting are in process as the Club look to sign their initial batch of players to full-time contract.

Club Chairman Gary Dewhurst said;

“There is no time pressure on this transition – the pace of change wholly depends on how fast we can identify the right players for The Nomads – quality players who can improve the first team, fit in with The Nomads’ culture and who possess ambition to challenge TNS’ dominance of the Welsh League over the last decade.”
