M53 northbound closed near Cheshire Oaks due to overrunning repairs

The M53 northbound in Cheshire remains closed this morning between Junction 10 (Cheshire Oaks) and Junction 7 (Ellesmere Port) as essential carriageway repairs overrun.
Drivers are being urged to expect delays and consider alternative routes.
Contractors are working to reopen the stretch of motorway as soon as it is deemed safe.
In the meantime, a diversion route has been put in place, marked with a hollow triangle symbol.
Diversion Details:
- Exit the M53 northbound at J10.
- Take the first exit at the roundabout onto the A5117 westbound.
- At the A540 roundabout, take the third exit onto the A540 northbound.
- At the A550 Two Mills junction, turn right onto the A550 northbound.
- At the A41 junction, turn left onto the A41 northbound and rejoin the M53 at J5.
Motorists are advised to plan ahead, allow extra time for journeys, or delay travel if possible.
