Liverpool Airport urges passengers to arrive three hours before departure

News and Info from Deeside, Flintshire, North Wales

Liverpool John Lennon Airport is advising passengers to arrive three hours before their scheduled departure as it upgrades its security screening equipment.

The airport is installing new Next Generation security lanes, which are expected to improve the passenger experience in the long term.

However, during the transition period, security processing times may be longer than usual.

A spokesperson for the airport said: “Over the next few weeks, we are upgrading our remaining security lanes to the brand-new Next Gen equipment. During this period, security processing times are likely to be longer than you’re used to, so we recommend passengers arrive three hours before their departure.”

Passengers flying with Ryanair who need to check in luggage for flights departing after 08:00 should note that they can only do so two hours before their flight.

The airport has also confirmed that passengers who have pre-booked car parking on-site can now park earlier than originally stated on their booking if they choose to arrive sooner.

One key change with the new security system is that while the restriction on liquid containers remains at 100ml, passengers can now leave liquids, laptops, and tablets inside their hand luggage when passing through screening.

Liverpool John Lennon Airport has apologised for any inconvenience caused and encourages passengers to plan accordingly to avoid delays.
