Today is the day when voters in Deeside and across the UK get to vote on who will be the next MP to represent the constituency at Westminster.

Everyone who is registered to vote should have received a card giving details of the polling station where they can cast their vote – you don’t need your card to pop along to your local polling station to vote.

Polls will open at 7am and close at 10pm tonight, they are often in community centres, schools or something like that. You can pop your postcode into this helpful website WhereDoIVote.co.uk and it will draw you a map with a route as well.

If you don’t have your poll card, you can go to the polling station and give them your name and address. You don’t need any other form of ID.

The candidates you will find on your ballot paper once you have entered the polling station are;

Party Candidate Votes % ±
UKIP David Griffiths
Plaid Cymru Jacqui Hurst
Conservative Laura Knightly
Labour Mark Tami
Liberal Democrat Pete Williams

66.6% of the 62,196 people in Alyn and Deeside eligble to vote turned out in the 2015 General Election casting 41314 votes – 20,882 didnt vote – more than the number of votes the eventaul winner, Mark Tami (Lab) recieved.

2015 result;

Party Candidate Votes % ±

Can you take a selfie when casting your vote?

There’s nothing in the law that specifically bans taking photos, but the Electoral Commission very strongly discourages any photography inside a polling station, primarily because of complex laws about maintaining the secrecy of the ballot. More on what you can and can’t do here:
