Free book exchange returns to Broughton Shopping Park for World Book Day

Broughton Shopping Park is inviting visitors to celebrate World Book Day (6 March) by taking part in its free community book swap, the ‘Little Library’.
Now in its second year, the initiative aims to encourage reading by offering a space where book lovers can pick up, swap, or donate books at no cost.
Located in the foyer outside Costa Coffee, the Little Library has seen hundreds of books exchanged since its launch, with a variety of genres available for readers of all ages.
Alan Pruden-Barker, centre manager for Broughton, said: “We know how important reading is for people of all ages, helping to expand horizons, spark imaginations, and support overall wellbeing.
“We’re proud that we can offer our local community the chance to discover new books for free, while giving their unwanted books a second life, and it’s fantastic to see how many people continue to pick up, swap and donate books at our Little Library.”
In addition to the book swap, young readers visiting Broughton can also redeem a World Book Day token at Asda Living in exchange for a free book, with the offer running until 23 March.
Broughton’s commitment to promoting literacy extends beyond World Book Day.
The shopping park supports reading initiatives through its Young Readers Programme, run in partnership with the National Literacy Trust and co-owner British Land.
The programme encourages children to read outside the classroom and has provided more than 8,800 books to over 2,900 school children across Chester and Flintshire.
