The Flintshire Welsh in Education service is holding a four day musical Jamboree for Year 1 and 2 children to participate.

Roughly 2,500 Flintshire children will be attending over the four days of performances.

The popular S4C presenter and entertainer Martyn Geraint has been commissioned to stage eight performances.

The dates of the Jamborees are :-

Monday, 15 June 10.30 to 11.30 & 1.30 to 2.30

Tuesday, 16 June 10.30 to 11.30 & 1.30 to 2.30

Wednesday 17 June 10.30 to 11.30 – Welsh Medium Schools only

Wednesday 17 June 1.30 to 2.30

Thursday, 18 June 10.30 to 11.30 & 1.30 to 2.30

The Jamboree will be held at Connah’s Quay Civic Hall, and we wish to thank the Town Council for their continued support.

Preparation is in hand, as Year 1 & 2 children are busy learning songs to enable them to sing along in Welsh with Martyn Geraint. All schools will receive a CD of the songs.

Martyn Geraint has built up a reputation as one of Wales’ foremost entertainers and many will have seen first hand his natural ability to inspire children.

Councillor Chris Bithell, Cabinet Member for Education, said:

“As well as being a fun and social experience, the Jamboree will also be a means of enhancing pupils’ bilingual skills and will provide an additional dimension to Welsh language lessons by offering a positive learning experience through music.”
