Flintshire Scout group donates over 100 Easter eggs to local children

Young members of a Flintshire Scout group have helped bring Easter joy to children facing hardship by collecting and donating over 100 Easter eggs.
1st Mynydd Isa Scout group organised the collection for North Wales Superkids, a charity that supports underprivileged children across the region. The initiative was supported by a donation from A.F. Blakemore, enabling the Scouts to reach their goal.
Scout leader Kirstie Jones said: “Many families facing financial hardship may not be able to afford Easter treats for their children. Offering this experience helps relieve some of that burden and ensures children don’t miss out.”
She added: “Organising Easter egg collections for disadvantaged children not only brings joy to the recipients but also strengthens community ties, supports charitable organisations, and fosters a culture of compassion and generosity.”
North Wales Superkids, which is based in Mold, works year-round to support vulnerable children through a variety of programmes, from Christmas toy appeals to short breaks for families in crisis. Contributions like this help the charity continue its work during seasonal periods like Easter.
Reflecting on the Scout movement’s guiding principles, Kirstie said: “The Scout Promise emphasises helping others and making a positive impact. Collecting Easter eggs for disadvantaged children is a tangible way for Scouts to live out these values, reinforcing the principles upon which Scouting is founded.”
