A driver in Flintshire has been arrested for drink driving after committing a ‘hat-rick’ of offences on Tuesday evening.

A North Wales Police intercept unit pulled over the driver of a Peugeot on Greenfield Road near the shops.

The driver was found to be twice the legal alcohol limit, as well as having no license and no insurance.

Posting on social media, an Intercept Team spokesperson said: “This vehicle has just been stopped by one of the team in Greenfield.”

“The driver has scored a hat trick, but not one that he will be proud of.”

“No Licence, No Insurance and a Roadside reading of 59 – legal limit 35.”

“The driver is now in custody to provide an evidential reading for the drink drive offence.”

“The vehicle will be seized and the driver will get his day in court.”

During the first week of our Anti Drink and Drug Drive Campaign, across the region police made 27 drug drive arrests and 14 drink drive arrests, 11 of which were in Flintshire.

As part of the all-Wales Anti Drink and Drug Driving Campaign, Flintshire officers said they will be “will be proactively targeting drink & drug drivers over the festive period.”

Sgt Darren Newby of Mold Police Station said “Drink and drug driving can have a detrimental impact on both the people committing the offence and the wider community.”

“We have zero tolerance for people who choose to risk their life and the lives of others by getting behind the wheel whilst under the influence.”

“We ask people to think carefully about driving the morning after a night out as drink and drugs can stay in your system longer than you might think.”

“Our officers will be out and about over the next few weeks with the intention of stopping anyone who chooses to drive under the influence”
