Flintshire Bridge reopens after closure due to Storm Éowyn

Flintshire Bridge, which had been closed since 9am today due to strong winds from Storm Éowyn, has reopened as of 2.30 pm, Flintshire Council has confirmed.
The closure followed an amber weather warning issued by the Met Office, which remains in effect until 9pm.
Posting on Facebook, a council spokesperson said: “Update – Flintshire Bridge: The bridge will reopen at 2:30 pm today.”
Several roads in Flintshire have been affected by fallen trees and damage caused by the high winds. Earlier, North Wales Police urged caution, stating: “Amber weather warning is now in place. Our Control Room is experiencing a high volume of calls due to road disruptions across the region. Please take extra care if you are travelling today.”
Waste and recycling collections are continuing across Flintshire, but the council has warned of potential delays or changes to the usual schedule due to the severe weather conditions.
The council has said that all Household Recycling Centre sites in Flintshire remain closed today (24 January) to ensure the safety of staff and the public.
The council has stated that it will monitor the situation throughout the day and provide updates if conditions improve enough for sites to reopen.
Residents are advised to remain cautious and stay updated on weather developments as Storm Éowyn continues to affect the area.
