The family of a Prestatyn who was tragically found dead after a multi-agency search in Snowdonia, have paid tribute to her in a heartfelt statement.

Ausra Plungiene, 56, was reported missing last Tuesday evening after she failed to return home from a walk with her dog in the Carneddau mountain range.

Mountain Rescue Teams found her body near Yr Aryg on Thursday afternoon, 13th April.

In a statement, Ausra’s family expressed their gratitude to everyone involved in the search effort: “All of our family would like to thank everyone for their support, love, and good wishes that they have given us over the last few horrific days.”

“Friends, family, work colleagues and complete strangers all have supported us.”

“We can say no more than thank you from the bottom of our hearts.”

The family went on to specifically thank the various teams and individuals who participated in the search for Ausra, including the police, the mountain rescue service, the Royal Air Force, support helicopters, the army, and numerous unnamed individuals who faced challenging conditions during the search.

“We cannot express enough thanks to so many people that gave up their time to search for our beloved Ausra.”

“The police and all their work in front and behind the scenes to trace activities, look after us, support and advise us has been truly remarkable,” they said.

Her family described Ausra as “an angel” who had enhanced the lives of those she had touched during her time with them.

They concluded their statement by saying, “Ausra is off on another adventure, and we are sure the lives she touched while this angel was with us have been enhanced.”
