Update: A550 Welsh Road back open following earlier fallen tree
Previous report: The A550 Welsh Road is closed in both directions between the A41 (Hooton) and the A540 (Two Mills) near Ellesmere Port due to a fallen tree that was subsequently been struck by an HGV.
Cheshire Police are at the scene, and delays are expected on the approach to the closure.
Drivers are advised to plan ahead and use the designated diversion routes to minimise disruption.
Diversion Routes
Northbound Traffic (Follow solid triangle symbol):
- At the A550/A540 Two Mills junction, turn right onto the A540 southbound.
- At the A540/A5117 junction, turn left onto the A5117 eastbound.
- At the A5117/A41 roundabout, take the 1st exit onto the A41 northbound (Liverpool Road).
- At the A41/A550 junction, re-join the A550.
Southbound Traffic (Follow hollow circle symbol):
- At the A550/A41 Hooton Crossroads junction, turn left onto the A41 southbound (Chester Road).
- At the A41/A5117 roundabout, take the 3rd exit onto the A5117 westbound.
- At the A5117/A540 junction, turn right onto the A540 northbound (Parkgate Road).
- At the A540/A550 junction, re-join the A550.
