Deestriders shine at Chester Half Marathon

Christine Cammillare achieved a significant milestone by completing her 100th parkrun at Wepre on Saturday.

She finished as the second lady with a commendable time of 25:50.

Alongside her were centurions Fiona Robinson and Sue McIndoe.

On Sunday, Laura Wyatt participated in the Delamere Race for Life 10K.

She braved the challenging, hilly course, completing it in approximately one hour.

Over 30 Deestriders took part in the Chester Half Marathon on an exceptionally warm Sunday.

The race saw impressive performances with several personal bests.

James Bruce led the Deestriders with a swift 1:20:29, followed by Max Dowell, who set a personal best with 1:25:30.

Alan Latham finished in 1:30:34, and Antony Woodall crossed the line at 1:32:29.

Angela Deeley, who was the first in the FV55 category, and Matt Davies both clocked 1:34:34.

Other notable performances included Paul Lyth, who set a personal best at 1:39:24, and Graham Bryan, also with a personal best, finishing at 1:43:29.

The Deestriders are set to continue their racing endeavors with the kickoff of their four-fixture Off Road Grand Prix on Thursday, 6 June 2024, at 7.30pm in Shotton.

This series promises exciting competition on the banks of the Dee between June and September.

The Deestriders, a friendly running club with over 100 members, have been active in Deeside for over 40 years.

Catering to various abilities and disciplines, they are a founding member of the Borders League.

Whether members aim to stay fit or race weekly, the club offers sessions throughout the week, including road, trail, and track runs.

For more information or to join, the Deestriders welcome interested runners to try a session and experience the supportive community.
