Deeside Retail Park: Former Lidl looks set to become Iceland Food Warehouse

Iceland has submitted plans to open a new Food Warehouse store in Deeside, taking over the former Lidl unit at Deeside Retail Park.
The Deeside-based supermarket chain has applied to Flintshire Council for permission to install new store signage and air conditioning and refrigeration units at the site.
The planning application is under review, with a target decision date set for 1 May 2025.
If approved, the Deeside store will be the third Food Warehouse in Flintshire, joining existing locations in Mold and Flint.
The Food Warehouse, launched by Iceland in 2014, offers a larger store format with bulk-buy options and an extended range of frozen, chilled, and grocery products.
Stores typically cover between 10,000 and 15,000 square feet and are usually found in retail parks.
Iceland already has a presence at Deeside Retail Park, with a concession inside The Range store next door.
The news of Iceland’s expansion comes as Aldi prepares to open its new Deeside store this summer.
The discount supermarket chain recently confirmed an August opening for its new site, adding further competition to the local retail scene.
Further details about Iceland’s Food Warehouse store, have not yet been uploaded to the Flintshire Council planning website.
