A section of Wepre Park footpath has been closed for safety reasons after a dangerous tree fell onto the main trail.

Flintshire County Council issued a public notice advising visitors to follow a diversion route until the hazard can be removed.

According to the council, the closure is necessary to protect public safety as the tree is situated on a steep bank and poses a significant risk.

The affected area is marked with a red star on the council’s map (below), while the alternative path is highlighted with a yellow line.

The council’s statement reads: “Due to a dangerous tree falling down a steep bank onto the main trail, the footpath is closed for health and safety reasons until the tree is brought down safely. Until the path is reopened, please follow the diversion on the map below.”

The alternative route will remain in place until the necessary work to safely remove the tree is completed.

No timeline for the reopening of the path has been given at this stage.
