Connah’s Quay Murder: 18 year old arrested on suspicion of murder

North Wales Police say they have made a further arrest in relation to the murder of Matthew Cassidy in Connah’s Quay on Monday the 29th of May.

An 18-year-old male was arrested in Merseyside late yesterday afternoon on suspicion of murder.

He is currently being interviewed at St Asaph police station.

North Wales Police Detective Chief Inspector Arwyn Jones said;

I am grateful for the information we have received from the public in the last 24 hours; this has assisted the enquiry.

However, I would like to remind the community that this is a murder of a teenage boy, and I would reiterate the need for anyone with any information to come forward and speak to us.

Crime Scene Investigators are continuing to work in and around an address at Bethel Place, Connah’s Quay today three days after 19-year-old Matthew Cassidy was fatally stabbed.

The rear and part of the front of Bethel Place remain cordoned off as forensics officers scour the area for evidence.

A post-mortem carried out yesterday concluded Matthew died as a result of a fatal stab wound he suffered during an incident on Monday evening.

Matthew’s family said they are “completely and utterly devastated” by his death and have asked for complete privacy while the investigation continues, they are being supported by specialist officers.
