One lane of A55 near Holywell back open following earlier collision

Update: There is queueing traffic and one lane remains closed on the A55 eastbound following an earlier collision between J31 (A5151, Caerwys) and J32 (A5026, Holywell).

The road was fully closed until approximately 10:45 am, but lane one (of two) remains shut, causing delays for traffic heading towards Ewloe.

Earlier report: A collision on the A55 eastbound has caused disruption this morning, with the stretch between J31 (Caerwys) and J32 (Holywell) closed to traffic.

Traffic Wales confirmed the closure, advising motorists to avoid the area while emergency services attend to the incident.

In addition to the collision, a fog warning has been issued for the area, with Traffic Wales urging drivers to exercise caution.

The affected area extends from J28 (Waen) to J32 (Holywell), where there is reduced visibility.

Warnings and Advice

Traffic Wales shared the following on social media:

  • “Collision eastbound between J31 Caerwys – J32 Holywell. Please avoid the area as the road is currently closed.”
  • “⚠️ Warning – Fog ⚠️ 📍 #A55 J28 Waen – J32 Holywell. Please drive to the conditions and allow more time to travel.”

Motorists are encouraged to plan alternative routes and allow extra time for journeys.
