Chester residents urged to stay alert after spate of burglaries

Residents in Chester are being urged to remain vigilant and secure their homes following a series of recent burglaries, police have warned.
Officers from Chester Proactive Team have received multiple reports of burglaries and vehicle thefts in recent days.
According to police, offenders have been targeting properties with insecure doors and windows, stealing keys to vehicles before taking the cars and later abandoning them.
Detective Sergeant Roy Wellings reassured the public that police investigations are underway.
He said: “Firstly, I would like to reassure residents that we are doing all we can to apprehend those responsible and there are a number of enquiries underway.
“While we continue with our investigation, I would urge residents to ensure that they review security measures and ensure that their properties are properly secured in order to make it even more difficult for any offenders to strike.
“If anyone has spotted anything suspicious, please contact us via our website or 101, quoting 25000147260.”
Police have issued key security advice to homeowners, including ensuring all windows and doors are locked even when at home, keeping car keys and valuables out of sight, and installing security measures such as CCTV and burglar alarms where possible.
Residents are also encouraged to report any suspicious activity in their neighbourhoods to help prevent further incidents.
The investigation remains ongoing, and police are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.
