Buckley repair café saves 2,500kg of CO2 emissions

A community-led repair café in Buckley has prevented over 2,500kg of CO2 emissions in the past year by repairing 77 items, helping reduce landfill waste, and saving local people money.
Refurbs Buckley repair café, which runs from the Repair & Reuse Centre in Buckley town centre, joined forces with Repair Café Wales a year ago.
Since then, a dedicated team of seven volunteers has been working to fix everyday household items, from vacuum cleaners and small electricals to bicycles and wooden furniture.
Repairing instead of discarding has cut 2,533kg of CO2 emissions—the equivalent of flying 15,447 miles.
Hanna Clarke from Refurbs said: “Our repair sessions are at the heart of what we do at our Repair and Reuse Centre with café in Buckley. With every session fully booked, our dedicated volunteers take great pride in repairing the items, while attendees leave delighted with their fixed belongings, helping reduce waste and keeping items out of landfill.”
The free repair café events take place on the first Saturday of every month from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm.
Local residents are encouraged to bring broken items, and volunteers will assess whether they can be repaired.
