Angel wings selfie spot unveiled at Shotton High Street Church

A new art installation outside Rivertown United Reformed Church on Shotton High Street is bringing smiles to passers-by and creating a buzz on social media.
The wooden angel wings, designed by Revd Johnny O’Hanlon, Minister at Rivertown Church, were unveiled on Wednesday, 11 December, and have quickly become a hit with visitors stopping to snap “angel selfies.”
Located in front of the church, which sits directly on the busy High Street, the wings are proving to be a standout attraction in the town.
Revd O’Hanlon explained that the wings were a collaborative effort.
“Happy people at an ‘angel making worship’ yesterday morning helped assemble the wings,” he said.
Alongside the wings, participants also created dolly peg angels, which now decorate the interior of the church.
A high street highlight
The angel wings installation has drawn attention from locals and visitors alike, with many taking to social media to share their selfies under the hashtag #RivertownAngels.
The initiative has highlighted Rivertown Church’s commitment to engaging with the local community through creative projects. Its High Street location ensures that anyone passing through the area can pause for a moment of joy and reflection.
For those curious to learn more or participate in other activities, the church shares updates on its Facebook page, Rivertown URC, and via its website at www.rivertown.org.uk.
