Airbus is supporting Armed Forces Day again this year, the Broughton-based wing makers signed the Armed Forces Covenant in May 2015 and have several employees who serve as reservists.

A number of Airbus employees have pledged their support to the Armed Forces Day which takes place this weekend with events across the UK.

Saturday 25 June marks the eighth National Armed Forces Day and provides organisations and individuals with an opportunity to show their support for serving and veteran armed forces personnel and their families.

Celebrations began on Monday 20 June when the Armed Forces Day flag was raised on buildings and famous landmarks around the country.

Chairman of Flintshire County Council, Cllr Peter Curtis, was joined by Lord Lieutenant Harry George Fetherstonhaugh OBE LL, and Councillor Andy Dunbobbin the Council’s Armed Forces Champion, in raising the Armed Forces Day flag.

Councillor Peter Curtis said:

“I am proud that Flintshire County Council is joining other public organisations across Wales and the UK in flying the Armed Forces Day flag. It is important that we join together and demonstrate the value we place on our armed forces, the work they do and the sacrifices they make.

“Armed Forces Day is encouraging people to #SaluteOurForces, and I would encourage Flintshire residents to visit the website: https://www.armedforcesday.org.uk/get-involved/saluteourforces/ and get involved.”

The National Event will be held in Cleethorpes in North East Lincolnshire and local events will be taking place across the country.
