Six employees from Airbus in Broughton have raised more than £10,000 for the company’s current partner charity the British Heart Foundation (BHF) by running the 2017 London Marathon.

Dave Harra, Head of Innovation & Development at the Broughton site finished with a time of 3 hours 44 minutes. He said:

I ran the London Marathon as my family has a history of heart problems.

Thankfully the pioneering work that the BHF does helped save the life of my uncle and has also supported several other family members.

The marathon was one of the toughest physical and mental challenges I have ever experienced, but the thought of running it for the BHF helped me power to the finish line!

Airbus’ Charity Challenge Manager, Lauren Ashall, added:

A massive well done to the Broughton team who have raised more than £10,000 in total. It’s been fantastic to see them progress on their marathon journey, right from the very early stages of training to watching them cross the finish line on the mall.

Another two runners from Broughton, Michaela Buchanan and John Lynch, also completed the 26.2-mile course for charities close to their own hearts.
