Airbus has delivered easyJet’s first A320neo, which is also the airline’s 300th A320 Family aircraft, at a ceremony in Toulouse today.

easyJet has 100 A320neo jets on order, as well as 30 largerA321neo aircraft.

Carolyn McCall easyJet CEO  joined Gaël Méheust CEO of engine maker CFM International and Tom Enders, Airbus CEO at the handover.

The 186 seat aircraft is powered by CFM LEAP-1A engines, the new aircraft has a specially designed NEO logo on the fuselage to distinguish the NEO fleet.

easyJet’s NEO fleet will be based out of London Luton Airport and operate its first commercial flights in June to Amsterdam, Madrid and Edinburgh.

easyJet could look at buying more A321neo aircraft in place of smaller A320neos according to CEO Carolyn McCall who said;

We are able to take more A321neos in our framework but we haven’t as yet committed to taking any more…

It will be on our radar as we go through the next 12-18 months”, said Carolyn McCall in Toulouse as the carrier took delivery of its first A320neo jet.

The A320neo is easyJet’s 300th plane and the new, more fuel efficient engines will help easyJet keep costs down.
