The Urdd National Eisteddfod announced today a partnership with leading aircraft manufacturer, Airbus.

Airbus, the largest employer in the region is sponsoring the ‘Canolfan Groeso’ (welcome pavilion) at the Eisteddfod – the first building that the 90,000 visitors expected during the week will walk through to access the Maes (Eisteddfod festival site).

The Urdd Eisteddfod is a family friendly cultural festival that is held this week (30 May – 4 June) on the land surrounding Flint High School.

Aled Sion, Director of the Urdd National Eisteddfod said,

“We are thrilled that we have established this new partnership with Airbus.  They are an important employer in this area, and they’re sponsorship is highly appreciated.

“They will also have a presence at the Gwyddonle (the science pavilion) which works well, as Airbus has a long established partnership with Swansea University, sponsors of the science pavilion.”

Mark Stewart, UK General Manager and HR Director from Airbus added,

“The Urdd Eisteddfod is a huge national event for all age ranges of school children, so with this year’s event happening so close to our site this is a great opportunity for Airbus and its academic partners in Wales – Coleg Cambria and Swansea University – to reach out and encourage young people to consider a career in engineering.”
