A51 closed after tractor crash hits homes near Chester

The A51 Vicars Cross Road in Chester remains closed in both directions following a serious early morning collision involving a tractor, a car, and two residential properties.
The incident happened at around 6.36am on Tuesday 1 April, near the junction with Pearl Lane.
In a statement, Cheshire Police said: “The A51 in Chester is currently closed in both directions following a collision at the junction of Pearl Lane. Officers attended the scene and found that there had been a collision between a tractor and a Mercedes. The tractor had also collided with two houses.”
“There are no reports of any serious injuries, but the drivers of both vehicles have both been taken to the Countess of Chester Hospital as a precautionary measure.”
“The occupants of the houses have all been accounted for, and are all safe and well.”

Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service also attended the scene, confirming that everyone was out of the vehicles and the affected properties on arrival. Crews established a cordon around the area for safety, and one casualty was treated by paramedics at the scene.
An update issued by police at 8.30am said local authorities had evacuated residents from the damaged properties to a nearby village hall.
The A51 is currently closed between Green Lane and the A41, with diversions in place. Police have warned that closures are likely to remain in place for several hours and are urging motorists to avoid the area.
