Activity is hotting up on Deeside Retail Park as homeware chain The Range gets set to open the doors to their Deeside store for the first time next Friday, 25th March.

The ‘Home, Leisure and Garden’ store will have 16 departments selling 65,000 products and DeeDee’s cafe in the 40,000 sq ft former B&Q site in Queensferry.

The Range, which has over 100 stores around the UK, stocks mid-price garden and home furniture, as well as arts and crafts, lighting, luggage and clothing.

The arrival of the retailer on Deeside has seen the creation of over 80 full and part-time jobs and it will be the company’s seventh store in Wales.

Owned by Billionaire Chris Dawson a Plymouth born son of a market trader, he started out selling seafood from the back of a van with his father, he later started his own venture selling perfume and jewellery from a suitcase he is now worth an estimated £1.65 billion and was 57th in 2015’s Sunday Times Rich List

His profile page on the Range website says;

Chris Dawson founded The Range in 1980 as an open air market trader and from these humble roots saw the start of The Range, over a period of time the company soon expanded throughout the UK.

Chris’s entrepreneurial talent has earned him wide recognition amongst the business community and he was recently recognised by Prime Minister, David Cameron as one of the country’s top entrepreneurs.

He was also crowned ‘Ernst & Young Overall Entrepreneur of the Year 2011 for the London and South Region’ which saw him compete with 54 other business leaders from companies across London and the South.

Mr Dawson travels in style when he opens a new store preferring the company chopper over road transport which maybe a very wise move given the current state of the traffic around Queensferry.
